MAXC 2023 is coming and Kent Explorers are inviting you to join us!

What is MAXC?

MAXC (Multi Activity eXplorer Camp) does what it says on the tin! Loads of different activities offered by our Kent Scouts activity teams, Explorer Scouts from across Kent and camping in the very beautiful Lake District.

Activities that will be offered include:

Climbing
Ghyll Scrambling
Hill Walking
Sailing
Canoeing
DofE Expeditions (all levels)
Wild Camping
Scrambling
On site activities and evening entertainment
MAXC award
And anything else we can squeeze in

We are also looking at arranging caving and mountain biking as optional extras.

When?

Saturday 12 ^th August 2023 – Sunday 20^th August 2023

Where?

The YMCA Lakeside South Camp will be our campsite, which is located just outside Newby Bridge in the Lake District. Set right on the edge of Lake Windermere, it gives us plenty of space for on-site activities, super easy access to the lake for water activities and short journeys to the hills for walking and climbing.

Who?

You must be a Kent Explorer Scout and age 13½ by the time the event starts. So if you were born between 20 August 2005 and 13 February 2010, you can join us!

How?

You can choose to join us either as an individual Explorer Scout or an Explorer Scout Leader can sign up a whole ESU to attend. The Camp will be split into small sub-camps, so units that attend may not necessarily all be on the same sub-camp.

We have a maximum of 150 places available.

Cost?

The fee for the camp is £400. This includes:

Transport to and from Kent by Coach or minibus and all transport whilst in the Lake District
Food
Camping Fees
Activities (unless you choose to take part in the optional extra activities which will have an additional charge)

We are not expecting the fee for the camp to be paid all in one go, so have set a payment schedule to spread the cost of the camp:
